GDs Fun Flights - Okavango by Caravan

On what was actually a goodbye to African travel adventures with the Landy - we still managed to get a few flights in. My first fly-in Safari.

Yours truly after 6 nights in the Central Kalahari - 900+ km from going off the tar road in Letlhakeng till seeing tar again in Makalamabedi.

Wildlife highlight in Central Kalahari was our very first Caracal - didn't look too healthy though, possibly recovering from injury (snake bite?)

Anyway upon reaching Maun we ditched the Landy at the Wilderness Safari office and was taken across the road to a different kind of transportation (Still boxed shaped!) A2-GNU Cessna 208B Grand Caravan of Wilderness Air was waiting for us

An interesting machine on the deck was this Lancair Evolution - N829SJ- wouldn't mind to try that one

On departure N778AR Gulfstream G650 and N700FL Falcon 900EX were noted

Our pilot Axel then took us to Xigera Camp where we were going to spend the next 3 nights. En-route we made a short stop at Chitabe to pick up a few extra pax.

Emergency Tonic supply was brought in on the plane with us - all about limiting the malaria risk :sparkle:

Xigera was pretty close to paradise - deep in the wet part of the Delta with both Mokoro and boat trips. On one of the boat trips we came across this Olive Marsh Snake.

Also noticed this Elephant doing some afternoon yoga.

And a couple Lions doing a not so concealed approach on some Red Lechwe.

To soon it was time to leave again - and to my disappointment (only one during the visit) with 13 Wilderness Caravans in Maun to choose from, A2-GNU showed up again  )

Bad windows and hazy weather made aerial photography difficult - but caught these elephants

And a last view of the Delta before returning to Maun (again via Chitabe)

Then it was back in the Safari Monster for a visit to Nxai pans and the Baines Baobabs
