Istanbul - Yesterday, a Royal Air Maroc Boeing 787 hit a parked Turkish Airlines 777-300ER at Istanbul Ataturk Airport while taxiing, Airport Haber reports.

On August 9, having arrived at Istanbul Ataturk airport from Casablanca, A Royal Air Maroc's Boeing 787 hit a parked 777-300ER of Turkish Airlines at 6.10 PM local.

No injuries reported but the incident caused significant damage to the 787’s starboard wing as well as the AFT structure and auxiliary power unit (APU) of the Turkish 777.

An amateur video shows how the Air Maroc's Dreamliner clips its right wing against the 777’s tail, sending debris along the tarmac.

Seems to be quite a common occurrence nowadays that aircraft have prangs on the ground

All at Ataturk airport. Maybe they should have used the taxiway G which is parallel but further away from parked aircraft, but that is up to ATC, but crew have every right to request it.
The Jepp airport briefing does warn crew to be aware of wingtip clearances.
They were parked at stand 226 (near the cargo terminal) and pushed back and taxied west on A from that position.
