A British man died after falling from a plane on a runway at Dalaman airport in south-west Turkey.

Staff were reportedly trying to remove the 30-year-old from the aircraft when he fell from an exit. He was named in local media as Andrew Paul W.

The man died in hospital a short time after the incident on Tuesday. It came after he spent three days waiting for a flight home after losing his ticket.

Hurriyet newspaper reported he argued with cabin crew after boarding a flight at 3pm and was ordered off the aircraft as a risk to flight safety.

A nearby private hospital found the unconscious passenger had broken ribs as a result of the fall.

The man died at the hospital and police are now investigating.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Turkey and are in touch with the local authorities.'

Sad indeed. It's quite a height to fall to concrete, even from the smaller aircraft types :yikes:
