I am just keeping track of Cirrus accidents after I had a conversation with a Cirrus owner at Springs airfield.

Narrative:
The aircraft impacted open field terrain while on approach to Shelby County Airport (KEET), Alabaster, Alabama. The aircraft was partially consumed by the post-impact fire and the sole pilot onboard received fatal injuries.

There are 179 SR22 crashes recorded in the ASN database since 2002

It's almost 13 crashes per is it possible because of the built in ballistic parachute?

I see that some, if not many of the crashes were weather related. The parachute has save quite a few lives.

Departure airport: Kewanee Muni (KEZI)
Destination airport: Memorial Field (KHOT)
Narrative:
The aircraft impacted cornfield terrain shortly after takeoff from Kewanee Municipal Airport (KEZI), Kewanee, Illinois. The airplane sustained substantial damage and two of the three occupants onboard received fatal injuries. One passenger onboard the aircraft received undetermined injuries.
