AAD 2018

#1

Post by Propnut » Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:07 pm

The time for AAD this year is almost on us. Although we are still up in Pretoria, I hope to see some strange aircraft in the sky overhead. For those that I don't hear or see I am looking forward to a good couple of photo's taken in the vicinity of Lanseria.

Maybe one of the Falcon 8X would be a good start. :anyone:

I was watching those ARLAC after lifting off from Wonderboom. They had a ball all around Menlyn at 176k with only ZU-PDM visible on FR24.

Quick visit this morning - most of which was spent in traffic

By far the most uninspiring AAD static I have seen since my first back in 2012. Spoiled I guess and still a few gems to be found.

Highlight for me was this vintage LC-130H from NY Air National Guard on skies - usually spending time in colder places like the Arctic, Antarctic and Greenland. Was weird to see this 73-vintage Herc with fancy new props. 73-3300 LC-130H NY ANG - 109th Airlift Wing based at Stratton AFB, NY. teh nose of the C-17 can be seen on the background.

Thank fully the two Zimbabwe Air Force Hongdu k-8 Karakorums were new frames to me. Here 2104E the other one is I believe is 2017H it seems.
Image2104E_19Sep18-FAWK by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

3925 Gripen C nicely bombed up - one of Gripens (05/16/24/25) and 6 Hawks (259/260/262/263/267/271) seen today.

Not parked great for photos but if no pics 87J would probably complain. ZS-HNT MD 500E in full hunting gear. Displaying its 420-shp Rolls-Royce 250 (if not the 450-shp 250R)

Coolest single on the deck -el- - N260GT Performance Aircraft Formula GT - homebuilt machine
ImageN260GT_19Sep18-FAWK by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

One of my favorite helicopters must be the Bell 212 - here ZS-HHS of Starlite

Last the (not so) elusive Falcon 8X - think it is the 5th 8X frame I have seen in SA - Dassault demonstrator F-GCDP

That was it for now - Michael :bye1:

Many thanks GD for some really great angles in your photo shots. Ending on the Falcon 8X made my evening. There should also be a new Gulfstream at the AAD this year boasting an extended range.

The brand new G600 should arrive JNB tonight and relocate to WK.

Here two sets where I couldn't decide on my favorite

ARHLACs - quite like the one where they are very close but not sure if the one is covered too much :scratchhead:
