Saw that bit from the distance as I was about to board Bell 407GX ZS-ROB for a quick spin around the lake. So no pics of the G-II display :faceplant:

Will probably only get a good look at the photos from the show tomorrow. Maybe an appetizer later tonight.

Now you just being a tease....

I see the "rand airshow disappointed" thread has already started over yonder.... I mean, I'd just be happy to have a half decent airshow in the cape.

I have found it strange that the Rand Airshow has changed from May to August. I know one year it was cancelled because of the clag on the deck. Always thought that August would be a bit tricky to host an airshow what with the wind and all on the highveld at that time of year

87J, you are right, an airshow of sorts for you guys in Slaapstadt would be a good thing. But as you say the moaning has already started on AvCom. But have also heard that there were significant delays between displays making it rather drawn out. But well attended nonetheless

PS, GD appears to be a good tease. Looking forward to his other pictures :fantastic:

At R60 entry fees I know what to expect more or less. For sure it won't be the Blue Angels or the Red Arrows. The airshow was quite well organised, BUT, it would have been better if they could have spread it out over 2 days instead of 1. It was too busy and the damn stalls with their commercial crap were blocking a lot of the view. They should move them hawkers towards the hangars and leave the front open for display. The entrance was a bit of a disaster if you didn't have prepaid tickets.

All in all a good display. I couldn't take any pictures as I had 2 kids to look after during the show. Was it worth it? I certainly think so.

Some mixed comments being bandied around. Still think May would be a better time of year for the show :champion:

A few years ago I stupidly volunteered to be Ramp Controller with Peter during the KZN Winter Tour. I only did Margate and Pietermaritzburg Airshow, the last two but we ran a tight ship, had one display actually displaying, the next display airborne and holding and the next crew in the cockpits waiting. It's not so easy with some of the cock swingers but most of the guys were awesome. Both shows ran ahead of schedule and there was no breaks between displays and as far as I know from the feedback we got, they were the most enjoyable shows. It can be done but as with everything, best get the right guys to make manure happen.

I have some pics I will attach from Margate, B732 ZS-SID in formation with two Good Year Pitts and 4 Flying Lions Havards.

We even managed to coordinate all of these guys to work together and meet up at the right time in the right place in the air, not as easy as you may think when the B732 has to join from FALE and with all the personalities involved but it went perfectly...

A break in the show is a definite show stopper for me and there is no need for it... Having been to Oshkosh, it's amazing how they coordinate it so that there is always something above your head.

Enjoy the pics. I can't remember who took them so credit to whoever a they are. Dennis sent them to me. I was just making sure everything ran smoothly.

A 732 at a show would be awesome again but I can't see that happening anytime soon however we can only hope...

The best part of that display was that, the sound of the 4 rumbling Havards totally drowned the sound of the 732 and the two Pitts. All you could hear was the Havards, until they did a demonstrated go around at 50' in the 732 with a spiral climb over the field to Fl130 and then you could hear the might of the Fluffy   :fantastic: :beer3:

Good times! The KZN Winter Tour was awesome for Airshow enthusiasts, even though it was the same thing week in and week out, there was always something different at each show.

Now, time to get a big show down in the Cape, I'm sure it can happen.. :PM:
