The Connie has been an all time favourite of mine. As a young lad from our flat in Fynnlands we could watch the Constellation, in landing configuration for arrival R23 (in those days) at Durban International. Air traffic was at the end of an era. Sunderlands were landing in the Maydon Channel of the harbour and DC-4 and Viscounts still were daily arrivals.

Today I still have the joy of being able to call back the time.

And being able to operate the aircraft's steam gauges is a plus. (407 might work out where the aircraft is headed.)

There must have been some good spotting areas on the Bluff, especially from your house.

When FADN was operational the LH approach to the 8nm DME for Rwy24 was almost over our house. The long approach to Rwy24 was also great as you couls see when they intercepted the GS. Today all we can see is when the arrivals from JHB for FALE Rwy06 put on their main lights at night. They hang like Chinese lanterns for a few minutes before turning right onto finals.
