I agree that it appears to be the Airspeed Oxford - or a variant thereof, and it appears to be the only one that still had fixed pitch props.

However, the original pic seems to show both props being right handed (from the pilot's view) Whereas both your pic (above) and the following one seem to show left-handed props.........

The Oxford is also still the closest I can get. Windows fir well except the top bit that I guess could easily be modified. Propeller seems odd though, guess that would indicate re-engined if a Oxford?

Also had a look at the Italian build WWII machines without luck.

Unless - the original picture was the negative of the scene, and was published as it was, in error.

I believe this to be the case, as the prop rotation then fits the other Oxfords, and the pilot would tend to stand on the LH side, where he was seated during the unfortunate accident.....

Agree. does make sense, and the fact no one including myself can come with a better suggestion indicates to me you are spot on :good:

That's a Gulfstream nosewheel... I'm going to say G-III

Well it is indeed one of the local Gulfstream IIIs - ZS-TEX to be precise.

So spot on 87J and pretty close as well Skipper :good:
