How many aircraft can you name which were fitted with Allison T56 engines?
Hindsight is what you see from the tail gunner's position. :D

Well, to answer your question about the Allison T56 engines:

The best know one is obviously the "Herc" (to me, anyway), but here's a short list from Bingopedia:

Lockheed Martin C-130A-H, R, and T Hercules (And Civvy versions L100/L382)
Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion
Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye
Northrop Grumman C-2 Greyhound
Convair 580 and Convair 5800
Lockheed L-188 Electra
Lockheed R7V-2 Constellation
Aero Spacelines Super Guppy

Obviously, the engine may have been used on other types as mods/prototypes......

Looks like how the SAAF is headed if it continues to be run by the present bunch.

Firstly -Yes and No
It was never designated a number or name .
No, it was never built.......
But here's the "Unique-ness" :  This was a design drawn up by Fokker of Holland to covert the DC3 to a bomber - they also designed various other mods, including a float-equipped Dak, and one specially designed to carry petrol in on-board cargo tanks.

Here is more:

Thanks HS, interesting to say the least. Why was it never build? Lack of funds during WWII? Germans stopped Fokker from building it?

The Dutch were looking at this before the start of WWII already - no idea why it was never built - as you can see the model was very well built, dunno if it was for wind-tunnel testing?

This info only surfaced relatively recently - so it is of interest, especially to Dak fans like myself..

Apparently the Russians built production line examples of  the bomber version of the Li2, and the USA built prototypes at least of the "Bolo".
