A few from the recent Caprivi trip.

Highlight was this tiny Leopard cub in Chobe NP on the way back
ImageLeopard-cub_01Oct16_ChobeNP by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

And the magnificent mother Leopard
ImageLeopard_01Oct16_ChobeNP by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

Found a nice male Lion in Bwabwata in Caprivi, but this one in Chobe was better photographed

Ellies at Bwabwata

Leaving for two week training at Sabi Sabi tomorrow, so can't promise I will not add another couple pics when home :cent:

More leopard luck - during my field guide training I was lucky enough to come across this female leopard. Think we accidentally disturbed it stalking two young Nyala.

Yep that is me behind the wheel badly in need of a haircut :whistlin:

Got it now, thanks.

Well, according to 87J, a hairdresser is No.2 on the list of most stressful jobs in SA - I think your haircut may completely pee them off :haha: :haha:

PS, sjoe but she passed so close to your vehicle

A few from the Nyala Wilderness Trail the past few days. Missed the main taget, the Pels Fishing Owl, that had like gone to calmer waters with the river pretty full.
Never the less, any visit to the bush is most enjoyable :good:

The Luvuvhu as seen from the tar road before the Monday rain.

Walking along the river on the way to Luvuvhu Gorge, looking for the Pels Fishing Owl, did find two Giant Eagle Owl but no Fishing Owls.

At Luvuvhu Gorge, stuning scenary :sunglasses:

The tree climbing lion we encountered :thumbsup1:
ImageLion1_07Mar17-Nyalaland by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

Was a group of 8, including 4 cubs, but they quickly disappeared into the grass. Here our tree climbing friend back on terra firma.

On our drive back to camp after the walk we came across this enforcer :cool2:
ImageElephant_07Mar17-Nyalaland by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

And for those that believe Hippos only are found in calm waters :yikes:

Some creepy crawlies for Downwind - fell free to make any corrections :gooneybird:

This Bark Katydid (Cymatomera sp.) had mistaken our windscreeen for a tree

Large Copper Dung Bettle (Kheper sp.) with an ant looking in awe
ImageLargeCopperDungBeetle_07Mar17-Nyalaland by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

Hairy larvae of some sort head on
ImageLarvae_06Mar17-Nyalaland by Aviation Adventures South Africa, on Flickr

And last one of very few spiders seen, a Flat-Belied Ground Spider (Trachyzelotes sp I think).

Michael, marvelous pictures of your trip. The Levuvhu certainly is a brilliant orange / red / brown. Lots of water. No wonder you didn't see a Pels Fishing Owl

But dang, that camera of yours is working well :champion:

On our way back from Mozambique we crossed into Kruger at Giriyundo, a few kilometers in we came across this Spotted Bush Snake on a Foam Nest Frog :cool2:

After a few minutes of battle the snake got a good hold of the front leg of the frog and with head and prey raised high above ground left the scene. An awesome sight :cool1:

Jeepers, strong bloody snake that. Really amazing to see. I helped out an MSc student many years back to study the Foam Nest frogs. Had to stay out from 10pm until 4am to record their activity
