Now you sounding like my wife....

On the point of irrigation, it's called a hose pipe and most spraying attachment! I'm chewing on a bit of shade netting as well so that the sun doesn't dry the plants to death... Also have to figure out what to do with those damn snails on the wall, I think the local organic market has some organic snail stuff...

You will definitely need shade netting. It will make a big difference to the success of your crop or else they will frek quickly in the sun.

Regarding the snails, see if you can save them all and re-home them before deciding to nuke them :wink2:

What an interesting thread - Keep it coming, 87J.
Also, the education you are giving your children is worth 100x what they would get in a "school" these days.....
Enjoy the fresh air, outdoor activity and the pride of growing your own produce!
Next, try hydroponics - I hear it can get addictive.....

Thanks Slappy... you should check out aquaponics... now that messes with my head!!

Ok so... we got properly stuck in today...

Wood chips laid down in the bins and the beds...

Then we got to planting, making sure the plants went into soil and not chips, so you have to move the chips out the way before planting and then put the chips back around the plants... I put in some orange sun peppers as seeds as well!

Mommy, Josh and Annie finishing up in the last bin...

Of course my chillies were wood chipped as well...

Negative squire, but have a look at what the kale has been up to!

The rest of the plants aren't performing as well, but then we're also under hardcore water restrictions...
