The weather system that we reported on over the weekend is still due to make landfall in the SWC late on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, snow should start falling on the extreme high peaks of the SWC ranges, and by midday, significant falls should be recorded on the high peaks and at lower elevations down to 1500m. By this time, the snow zone will extend into the Northern Cape and also start impacting on the Southern EC ranges. Late Wednesday will see sporadic light snowfalls continuing in the SWC, EC (Middelburg and surrounds) and isolated areas of the NC. By Thursday morning, snowfalls are still possible in the SWC and isolated falls are possible in the Eastern parts of the EC around the EC Drakensberg and into Southern Lesotho. By Thursday afternoon, isolated falls are possible in Southern and central Lesotho and the EC Drakensberg. Most of the moisture would have been pushed south by this point, and there is a very slight chance that KZN will get a very light dusting on Thursday afternoon. We will know more once the system makes landfall and the path of the system become clearer. The whole country is going to feel the impact of this weather system, and will be extremely cold in places. The image attached only shows possible falls up until Wednesday afternoon.
