Tonight's satellite photo might explain the rain in Durban :

Some good storms here in Joburg! Landed right after the first big one over the airport.

The house and lapa took a pretty good beating in yesterdays hailstorm..Today it has been just cold and miserable all day and now the rain has started again. What a lousy summer!

About 4 windows, the roof tiles shifted and have hail damage (problem is the anti rain paint is basically destroyed) and my lapa now needs a combing as it looks like a 10 year old unmaintained thatch (its only a year old). The garden and all plants are destroyed, but Im pretty sure that will grow again next year.

Ja we had a grapevine, but almost every year the grapes got damaged by the hail.

I see on the Henley Cam it is miserable today, confirmed by Moertoe. I guess the farmers need the rain though.

I think this Google APP is often out of date, but this is probably yesterday's rain

Today is a scorcher in Cape Town. Luckily the wind has calmed down, because it has been creating havoc in the Cape these past couple of days.

Sorry for the Afrikaans, but here is a link to a story in 'Die Burger' about the wind we experienced yesterday:

I wouldn't be surprised if the gadget's pictures are out of date. It's a iGoogle gadget similar to what I put on our home page.

Well it has rained hard all night in Durban with distant thunder.  Right up to 08:00 it has still been raining heavily.  many roadways were flooded last night.

Still trying to catch the gravy train.

MORE weather induced trouble :
But how was the maintenance on the bridge? Are they letting them rot like all the roads?

6 die, others missing after bridge collapses
Ermelo - At least six people died when a bridge on the R65 between Ermelo and Lothair collapsed in heavy rain on Monday night, the Mpumalanga department of community safety said.

Spokesperson Joseph Mabuza said three vehicles, one of them a minibus taxi, crashed into the broken bridge.

Six people died and five were seriously injured. Mabuza said several others were missing.

The bridge was swept away just before 21:00.

He said motorists should use the R33, N17 and the Ermelo/Mpuluzi road as alternative routes because the R65 remained closed in the vicinity of the accident

Why fix your infra structure? The sheeple will pay anyway, whether you fix sh!t or not. I'm surprised there's no tax law on that yet. ANC WAKE UP, you need to tax people to fix the roads!

This heatwave that we have been experiencing in the Cape is not funny at all.  According the the weather forecasts we should have experienced some relief by now....they even predicted some rain for today.  I beg to differ...
