Storm in Durban 10 Oct

Today around 11:00 we were hit by a Category 3 Tropical Cyclone. We have been in our house 40 years and have never suffered any storm damage. Today we have mainly roof tile damage to the garage and granny flat. Looking out to the neighbours all around, all you can see is missing gutters and broken tiles. Some of the neighbours suffered from trees falling down across driveways. For around an hour we battled as the wind drove rivers of rain through the window frames. Towels were all over mopping up. In the kitchen it was so bad I ran to get the floor-wiz and struggled to keep up with the inflow.

In the harbour a large ship broke free from the aft moorings and swung into the wind tethered only by the forward mooring. In the entrance channel a large container ship was forced sideways by the wind and nearly ran aground. The local news has been broadcasting for all to stay indoors and off the roads. So far 4 persons confirmed dead.

I hope you may see something on the news tonight.
