Are the camera's different? It seems one is darker then then the other?

Probably the angle of each camera?

Nothing wrong with the cameras. Just that the north cam looks more into the sun and therefore the iris closes hence the darker image.

Should improve when we get to summer as the sun will be more vertical during the day and evenly spread over both cameras.

Ok thanks Bell407, that explains. Must be a costly exercise having those camera's running/broadcasting the whole day?

With the previous small webcam cameras that we used for about 5 years, they gave a picture size of 352 x 282 pixels and upoloaded 2 x images every 20 seconds. The bandwith for that was about 5Gb per month. And yes we had no control and they simply ran 24/7. So we were essentially throwing bandwidth down the drain running them at night but that was how they worked back then.

With the new cameras they are miles ahead of the simple webcams we had. These are proper cameras and not the type you buy from Incredible Corruption. And with the excellent software control that you get with them you can set just about anything. You can even set which days of the week you would like to upload.

The new images are larger at 480 x 360 pixels so that ups the bandwidth but because we don't run them 24/7 we are saving half a days bandwith at least. I expect that we should break even with bandwidth and should be no more than what the old system used which was around the 5Gb per month.

PS, keep an eye out here as we are considering installing a 3rd camera overlooking the NAC / Capital air helipads.

Marc, if a rare occasion arises when I have some time to kill, I'll make another time-lapse animation for you tube.

Raffles, great if you want to whttle away the time. What I can do is set the cameras to store their recorded images to hard disk for 12hrs and then do what you described above. Will negate having to sit and screen capture each image.

This morning was a beehive of activity. I captured some. I think Saturday mornings will be a good time to make a time lapse vid  Also during a storm, airshows etc.

Yip, we are aware of the problem with the HenleyCam this morning. Seems like there was a power failure at the hangar and the cameras have reset themselves to max zoom out.

Will get this rectified soonest and will probably install a small UPS or get access to the IP cameras remotely to reset them.

Nice to see more turbines than Lawn Darts on the pad this afternoon. 1 x A119 3 x B407's and 1 x B206 (in the background).

Would be nice if it were. Them Lawn Darts will still outnumber the bigger machines for the meantime.

Do you know of any R66 based in Durban?

Maybe check on the AvCom site under the photo section at FAVG and search on R66. Can't think of any offhand but NAC are bring quite a few in now.

The lawndarts are quiet lately, I don't hear much of them pranging...
