Helicopter Pictures

Post by Bell 407 » Mon Dec 03, 2012 1:54 pm

Thought maybe to start a thread dedicated to the whirly birds.

Bell 212 ZS-HRP Rand Airport 2 Dec 2012. She looked a bit ragged on the outside but the cockpit was nice and shinny. I suppose she was a bit ragged seeing she was a '74 model  :). She's off to Antarctica for a few months.

She looks quite good, especially for a 1974 model  What is she going to do in Antarctica? Supply runs?

Thanks for the great pics Bell 407! The 212 is a dream machine. Looks like she had a cockpit makeover?

What's with the Romeo "Inverted" Bravo? Why Inverted?

I'm surprised you don't know the story. Many years ago she did a barrel roll and loop at the Virginia Airshow. A big no-no.

Took a good few years to get her cleared and certified again.

It's just really quite fortuitous that she has the registration RIB for what she did. Sometimes when you are out flying her the radio chirps up with other piloots asking how is Romeo Inverted Bravo.

One of my first chopper pictures taken way back in Feb 2003. This is of B407 ZS-RLM (Version 1) at Sterkfontein Dam taken with a Mik-en-Druk Sanyo camera that saved pictures at a whopping 1600 x 1200 pixels. My but how technology has changed  :) :)

This is a beauts Bell 407 ZS-RHT having some fun at the high ground of the Heli GF (April 2007). It is a wonderful teal colour with a pearl (not silver) accent.
