A View through my Lens

#1

Postby MarkMansfield » Thu Oct 19, 2017 9:57 am

Greetings all

I am brand spanking new to this site, and no better way than to kick off with some aviation photography from my travels around the world.

This Pic of the Rafale was taken while I was in Singapore. The moisture in the air made for some amazing pictures when the jets flew.

'Gust of Wind or Burst of Fire?' - Does it really matter? It is the Dassault Rafale from the French Air Force, being put through its paces.

Fantastic picture Mark and welcome to the forum :champion:

Have always wanted to find an opportunity to take a water vapour picture but sadly conditions in sunny SA don't often provide the opportunity.

What kit are you using at the moment?

Would be interested to know the camera settings as well

Welcome to the site Mark :handshake:

Awesome pic to kick off with! Hope it will be the first of many.

During LIMA 2016 I presume?

Thank you!

It is very hard to capture in SA, down at the coast it helps a bit.

I use a Canon 1Dx with a Canon 600mm

Will check the settings.

Still staying in Singapore....

'Master Blaster' - The impressive Sukhoi SU-30MKM (Modernizirovannyi Kommercheskiy Malaziyskiy – Modernised Export Malaysia) from the Royal Malaysian Air Force strutting its stuff!

Lots of moisture in the air, plus fast jets and High 'G' manoeuvres always makes for impressive pics.

Another cracking shot! Wish we would see a little more fighters at AAD.

I was sure I had a photograph of a whirlybird taken by MM on record somewhere, so did some digging. Found this one of HDW taken way back in September 2009 :champion:

Mark, I think this was used for the front cover or something for one of the magazines?

Leaving Singapore, and now heading to Namibia.

'Made in China' - A Chengdu F7-NM, or Chinese built Russian Mig-21, from the Namibian Air Force.

WoW! Bell 407!!! I almost forgot about this! Yes, that sure does bring back some memories! Cannot believe time has flown so fast !

If I recall, I think it was used as a front cover for African Pilot magazine.
