87J, I believe you know Sardine who used to fly out of Stellies?

She is now with Mack Air flying out of Maun in Botswana (I know the owner quite well). She has been busy taking some really cool pictures. Maybe drop her a line and see if she will post some of her adventures here?

From the MackAir Facebook page

I absolutely do know the legendary pilchard! Top girl that one!

I'll give her a shout and see what I can do...

Nice pics of the Kodiak too!

GD, managed to get the peeps at Mack Air to post your post on their timeline. It seemed to have gotten lost in the message section. Looks like you guys had a great trip :good:

How was it flying in the Kodiak?

How was it flying in the Kodiak?

Was an awesome trip, the GA8 and Kodiak flights were just a bonus, the whole reason was flying a classic Gulfstream, and Maun was a perfect destination for getting full value for money. Originally planed was ZS-MMG GIISP, but we ended up with ZS-VIP GIII from Zenith (a very worthy replacement). That is where my profile photo is from.

Difficult to say much about the Kodiak. I was on the second flight (around 1130 departure) so around 30-35C. Needless to say a little dumpy and I had the feeling it was fishtailing (proper term?) as bad as a DC-3. Not ideal for scenic fights as hot exhaust air passed just below the windows making it quite unclear when looking down (as we were warned of this before hand, but we 'needed' to fly the type). Besides that the plane was taking too much (modern avionics)

The GA8 on the other hand was awesome. 7-up quite hot seemed no issue even if we were hardly the lightest group.

Will post a trip report at a later stage.

Have heard similar issues about the Kodiak but still think its a good looking aerie. But the GA8 just looks too boxy for me. But hey if it does a good then cool beans.

Looking forward to your trip report especially the bits about the Gulfstream.
