Jet2 becomes first European budget airline to ban early morning alcohol sales in crackdown on anti-social behaviour

Boozy passengers have forced airline Jet2 to ban early morning alcohol sales on all its flights.

The budget airline is the first in Europe to stop passengers buying alcohol on flights before 8am.

But desperate bosses have said they have been forced to take the measure in a bid to tackle disruptive and abusive behaviour.

The ban, which will come into action from Monday, is part of the company's campaign called Onboard Together aimed at reducing disruptive behaviour on its flights.

So far, the campaign has seen more than 500 passengers refused travel with more than 50 of these given lifetime bans since it was launched in 2015.

Among those on Jet2's banned list is Joshua Strickland , 21, from North Yorkshire, who was handed a £12,000 bill and a lifetime ban after his "abusive and aggressive" behaviour led to a plane being diverted to Manchester.

He downed his own booze 'illicitly' and threatened a family during the flight from Leeds, West Yorkshire, to Cyprus last month, the airline said.

He also verbally abused a cabin crew member who tried to intervene, forcing the plane to Larnaca to divert for other passengers' safety shortly after takeoff.

Josh appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show last year, where he claimed he was just playing pool while his mates were romping with prostitutes in a brothel.

In April this year, a stag do from Scotland were booted off their Jet2 flight at Newcastle Airport for disruptive behaviour.

And in May, a flight bound for Newcastle from Ibiza had to abort take off while a seemingly drunk woman was escorted off the plane.

Passengers who cause k@k for no matter what reason should be banned from flying and have a criminal record for it.
