Re: Seen on Flightradar24 Today
They were about 15 minutes ahead of us. When I heard them battling the storms I slowed the airplane down to M.072. At first we decided to hold over OKPIT but that weather was moving from the airport to OKPIT, so we decided to go around it and hold at STV and have a look from there. As we left OKPIT the BA flight diverted to FALE. Weather at FALE also deteriorated, LVP's in force, vis 2000 meters and ceiling at 200'. Great evening for flying.Bell 407 wrote:Serious weather over Gauteng last night. The delayed BAW55D flight from London tried to get into FAOR but to avail. Seems they are struggling again today. Etihad heading towards Durban and other had a couple goes landing with no joy. Always entertaining to watch on FR24

Re: Seen on Flightradar24 Today
Here's what it looks like on the ground so I guess they are struggling a bit.

This is some of the mayhem that transpired during yesterdays downpour in Gauteng. Nice new feature on the FR24 website is multi-flight select

ZS-JRI Boeing 737-300 returned to JNB this morning - presume it was FA101 to CPT. All they got was an 1 hour scenic flight above Soweto.

Missed-approaches and diversions all over the place again trying to get into FAOR

The Antanov made a b-line for Jhb. Was one of the very first to land post the storm.

SA61 from Lagos ZS-SXB A343 was this mornings Waterkloof visitor after two missed approaches at ORT (due fog I presume?).

Here as seem from the garden on departure back to ORT an hour later.

Cool picture GD. Yes, the clag was seriously on the deck this morning. Couldn't see any of the choppers on the pad at FAGM either

Interesting to see deepest Africa is the darkest. Reading history books the pattern above was the same throughout history. More activity on the coast and less or nothing inside. The people from the coastal areas raided the central areas and took the people from the central areas to the coast where the central guys were sold as slaves. The more things change the more they stay the same.
