Interesting info Joe. I see on FR24 what you mean. Yemen, Iraq and Syria all no fly areas. Iran is showing traffic as you say.

Will BRNAV suffice for UAE ops, or not good enough?

MT ... I think you will have a problem if the RNP requirement is less than 5 ie, the approach phase, as BRnav is 5 as far as I know.

B407, Iraq wants that traffic back, it's a major revenue source. But the bloody yanks are pushing out notams advising against it, all for political gain, no surprise there. However, Turkish is overflying and that may prompt others to return as it shaves off about 20nm on the Dubai to Western Europe route, ie $$ savings.

How's the Iraq situation now these days Joe, is it safe at Baghdad? Reason asking is because I've been approached to fly 737's out of there. Based at some hotel at the airport, between the two runways as I understand it.

The airport is safe, relatively speaking... there are still car bombs and suicide bombers blowing things and people up daily in the city, just don't go there. The hotel is okayish...expensive but it has a pub. It's about 3km from our camp so you can always come over for a dop at our place and we braai just about every weekend. Lots of airlines use it for crew stay overs.

Good evidence there Joe. That should help Moertoe make his mind up about some work in Iraq. By the way, those are monster pieces of meat in that first pic :yikes:
