GDs Fun Flights - Fortune Air Boeing 727 Super 27

Yesterday we succeeded in having an awesome 1½ hour enthusiast flight on a proper VVIP biz-liner. ZS-PVX also known as the 'Flying Giraffe' apparently, is a 1982 Boeing 727-200(RE)(WL) Super 27, one of the very last 727's built. Huge thx to FEJ for his help in making this possible, even if it didn't go as smooth from our side as expected. When I first talked with Fortune Air long ago there was absolutely no interest, but via FEJ they gave us a superb flight experience :good:

PVX was originally delivered to the Nigerian Government before moving on to South Africa with a private operator in 2007. Has since been used extensively by the South African Government by both sitting and former Presidents. Our flight took us from Lanseria to Mafikeng for a missed approach, when on to Pilanesberg when we circled Sun City before heading to Pretoria for a low-ish pass at Waterkloof AFB. On return to Lanseria we made a touch and go before our full stop landing :)

Me and my ride :cool1:

Now this is the proper way to board an aircraft :sunglasses:

An unlikely bunch of VVIP pax :haha:

Yours truly hanging out :peekaboo:

Lunch time, the poor FAs had a hard time trying to get the food out while everyone was running about taking photos :crazy1:

Business end of the Millenium Falcon :sparkle:

Not every one could have a throne :whip:

Some wing impressions, very iffy sky and no longer the clearest windows made it difficult :outtahere:

Back at Lanseria after an (think I might have said it before) awesome flight :thumbsup1:

If only I could fly like that every day :crybaby:

/M :bye1:

Yep saw it went down there yesterday. Aircraft is apparently for sale, a potential American buyer joined our flight Sunday
