Clint & Ghapi

Two phenomenal entertainers; two extraordinary vocalists; two implausible musicians; two enormous personalities, together on one stage

Sunday is the day all the potjiekos competitors have been waiting for! The food preparation starts after church and by the afternoon the whole campground is filled with the wonderful aroma of the various potjies, carefully nursed by their expert creators.
After the judging is over, everyone either shares their potjies back at their own sites, gets together with friends, or gets together at the visitors areas to share potjies or a braai.
Don’t miss out on the annual Texas Potjie Festival. It is a blast that you won’t forget anytime soon!
Every Labor Day weekend there is a big stirring amongst South Africans in Texas… well… to be honest, it’s much wider than Texas… it’s all over the United States, and in some cases even around the world! Why?
It’s the annual Texas Potjie Festival, and this year will be the biggest, best Potjie ever.
Ghapi the singing drummer “boerseun” and Clint Cunningham the Zimbabwean “Soutie” are performing at this year’s Festival.
Imagine this: Two phenomenal entertainers and vocalists, both exceptional musicians with enormous personalities, together on one stage!
Ghapi is the man with the huge voice and the mane of hair that plays up a storm on his drum kit!
Ghapi was introduced to the public in January 2005. Ghapi and his band quickly built up a reputation as the latest Afrikaans rock sensation. His unique ability to communicate with the audience and involve them in his performances, places him in a league of his own.
Clint Cunningham is no stranger to South African audiences. After 15 years of performing in pubs and clubs all over South Africa, Clint is now enjoying great success with his various shows in top theatres.
15 albums down the line, Clint has a massive original repertoire including his hit song Cry Baby Cry and two very successful Afrikaans to English translations.
We expect record numbers for 2016, due to the presence of Ghapi and Clint – Make sure to book your accommodation well in advance.
It’s the annual Texas Potjie Festival!

Preparations for this annual “potjiekos” festival begin weeks in advance. Some people make biltong, droëwors, boerewors, bake rusks, koeksisters, and many other traditional goodies in the weeks leading up to it.
People start arriving at the campground on the Friday. Some stay in cabins, others in RVs, and the rest in tents. Then the braai fires are lit and the party is on!
Most people “kuier” (visit) around the braai until the early morning hours on Saturday, catching up on news with all the friends they made at the previous Potjie. Saturday is the boerewors competition, and Saturday evening is the big “sokkie”.
