Re: AAD 2018

Many thanks GD for some really great angles in your photo shots. Ending on the Falcon 8X made my evening. There should also be a new Gulfstream at the AAD this year boasting an extended range.

Re: AAD 2018

I was watching those ARLAC after lifting off from Wonderboom. They had a ball all around Menlyn at 176k with only ZU-PDM visible on FR24.

AAD 2018

The time for AAD this year is almost on us. Although we are still up in Pretoria, I hope to see some strange aircraft in the sky overhead. For those that I don't hear or see I am looking forward to a good couple of photo's taken in the vicinity of Lanseria. Maybe one of the Falcon 8X would be a good...

Re: Microburst factor in Aeroméxico Embraer ERJ-190 takeoff accident at Durango, Mexico

We had a micro-burst on the plot yesterday during the thunderstorms. Wind was NW and constant. Suddenly a burst for 10 sec from the E that blew a lot harder throwing the leaves back into the air. Quite something to feel as the conditions soon resumed a steady NW blow. I can now understand what the e...

Re: Pratt Working On Geared Turbofan Vibration

I read somewhere (too much idle time) that there is an acceptable amount of vibration allowed in jet engines. Reading this thread gives the impression that the current P&W vibration problem is at the top end of acceptable.

Re: Capital Airlines Hard Landing Macau

I take it that the engine was damaged due to ingestion of debris from the bogie collapse.

Re: ZZZ WORLD WIDE ALERT FUEL SCARE

That is a cruel twist of fate. :yikes:

I wonder if the answer can be as simple as adding a colour to one of the liquids, to indicate a difference.

I also enjoyed the article, thanks. In Europe with small distances between large towns, should be an ideal starting point.

Re: Pilot dead as fire-fighting helicopter crashes on NSW South Coast

When performing a helicopter bucket dump my gut feeling is that the exit after the drop must be carefully planned to avoid the "hot and thin" air that would reduce lift.

Re: Suicidal Mechanic Crashes Q400

Googled a bit and found a video clip from a news station in the area. During the podcast they played a few minutes of the conversation between the 29yr old and the ATC. He admitted to possibly having a few screws loose, and apologised to his family who he realised would be devastated by his actions....
