Re: Is Green Aviation Really Coming? Noiseless, low-emission flight may be here sooner than you think

I also enjoyed the article, thanks. In Europe with small distances between large towns, should be an ideal starting point.

Re: Pilot dead as fire-fighting helicopter crashes on NSW South Coast

When performing a helicopter bucket dump my gut feeling is that the exit after the drop must be carefully planned to avoid the "hot and thin" air that would reduce lift.

Re: Crashed Wonderboom plane crew ‘weren’t qualified’, report finds

The report says that they hit power lines. My understanding is that they were not major power lines between pylons, but normal roadside pole lines. Would I be correct?

Re: Suicidal Mechanic Crashes Q400

Googled a bit and found a video clip from a news station in the area. During the podcast they played a few minutes of the conversation between the 29yr old and the ATC. He admitted to possibly having a few screws loose, and apologised to his family who he realised would be devastated by his actions....

Very good picture, clarity is tops. The aircraft gives the impression of a fast single with the elongated front section.

Re: Seen at FALA (Lanseria)

FSX and X-Plane very much on the back burner now. The pic was an 87J exclusive. My main time is split between The Hunter Classic and Silent Hunter 5. Learning to correctly navigate in flight sim was great, but in SH5 real navigation takes you into a whole new set of new brain teasers. :hijack: Hijac...

Re: Seen at FALA (Lanseria)

They may have, but this is a very old one from Veneaviones made in 2005. To many of the instruments are u/s in Flight Sim X to use it properly, but for you it makes a good picture taken from the outside. There is an impressive mechanical display to watch as the intricate retraction of the undercarri...

I don't know, but why not take off and nose over to a negative G and the kink will straighten out.

Re: Gauteng Government launches specialised aviation school

I watched an interview with the minister of Education. The School of Aviation he said was number nine in an expected set of 26 schools of excellence. The first 8 are already up and running. The School of Aviation would be based in Kempton park and would cater for 1,300 students. All aspects of the a...

Would the reaction have been the same if a female First Officer was in the seat on that airline?

An insight into the back-end of aviation, opening up an area of information that would have normally passed by. Thanks Howie for the effort.

Original South African "pilot".

In a communication I received from the Chairman of the SAAFA Durban Branch, there was an attachment. Reading the attachment made me realise that "a boer maak a plan" has taken on a significant new meaning. For your information I will repeat the letter below. Dear Fellow Aviators; Enthusiasts, I wond...
