The question is why did they attempt to take off during a storm? It must have been obvious.

Re: Crashed Wonderboom plane crew ‘weren’t qualified’, report finds

Years ago i attended a seminar on aviation fuel hosted by one of the the fuel companies. It was standard practice, after any accident, to secure the last point of refueling and test the fuel. I'm not sure if they do this anymore.

Burkina Faso / Rising extremism

This might explain the fighters, possibly Mirage 2000s, that took off the other day from OUA. OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso – The extremists approached the shepherd and made their intentions clear: They were seizing only the cattle owned by the deputy mayor of Burkina Faso's rural commune of Deou and le...

The report says that they hit power lines. My understanding is that they were not major power lines between pylons, but normal roadside pole lines. Would I be correct?

Re: A Royal Air Maroc Boeing 787 hits a parked Turkish 777 at Istanbul Ataturk

All at Ataturk airport. Maybe they should have used the taxiway G which is parallel but further away from parked aircraft, but that is up to ATC, but crew have every right to request it. The Jepp airport briefing does warn crew to be aware of wingtip clearances. They were parked at stand 226 (near t...

There are several errors in the report. Let's hope the final report is more accurate.

Re: Saudi Arabia says Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 attempted takeoff from taxiway at Riyadh

Funny I don't see a taxiway K on the Jepp chart. I guess neither did they. I see it's newly constructed. Maybe be on the next Jepp update. I see it on the latest Google Earth picture, but how do you mistake a taxiway for a runway at night, the taxiway edge lights are blue and runway edge lights are ...

Some Aero Commander trivia from Wikipedia In 1950, when the developers were working to satisfy Civil Aeronautics Authority (CAA) regulations for certification of the 500, they chose a novel method of demonstrating its single-engine safety and performance: they removed one of the two-bladed propeller...
