Raffles wrote:Hi Thabo,

There are so many things to see and do in and around London, is it aviation related things you wish to see?

Not necessarily.
I'm happy to see the country too.

If you have suggestions for things to see on the way between London and Gateshead/Newcastle i'd also be interested

London for the day

I'll be in London all day Thursday - flying on Wednesday evening and then driving up to Gateshead on Friday morning and looking for something interesting/beautiful to see. I've done the tourist thing and hampton court while in college and not inclined to spend an hour on the tube each way into town....

Re: Seattle, Anchorage and colder places

Plans have changed a bit... Currently they are that I'll be going to support c check in OKC at end of Dec - it's the first c check for our 737-700bdsf so both my management and Alaskan management want someone who knows the plane on site. Once the check is underway I'll go over to Seattle for a few d...

Seattle, Anchorage and colder places

I will possibly be flying on Sat night to Seattle for a few meetings with a customer. After that I'll be flying up to Anchorage and a few other towns in Alaska in the new Alaska Air converted 737-700 freighter. Should be back home by Friday afternoon, but don't yet know how long I'll be in Seattle o...

Shrooms

Have had a recent outbreak of mushrooms in my garden. They are growing all over my grass and I can't identify them or get rid of them (without killing the grass) Any ideas what they are and how to control them? http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z271/notreallythabo/Mobile%20Uploads/20171020_164926_z...

Re: GECAS Plans to Convert a Further 30 737-800s to Freighters

Btw. Since ZS-SAA and ZS-SAB are getting rather long in the tooth it may be time to convince management to ask for another bailout from govt and convert a couple of the older 738's to cargo. We did a few 733's in conjunction with SAAT and Denel 10-12 years ago so should be able to do the 738's in S....

Re: GECAS Plans to Convert a Further 30 737-800s to Freighters

From what I understand from speaking to the guys at Alaskan their freighters fly Seattle-Anchorage (which is a profitable pax route), and then a bunch of short hops down to Jeneau and Ketchikan, or up to Nome, Kotzebue and buggeritscoldfontein which are not profitable pax routes. As such they prefer...

Re: GECAS Plans to Convert a Further 30 737-800s to Freighters

We finally got our FAA STC for the 737-700 yesterday and delivered our first aircraft back to Alaskan today. Aircraft #2 is in work and teardown of #3 starts within days. The -800 is due to enter testing soon and we will begin structural work on it by the end of the year. -800 Feedstock is still ver...
